ACCADEMIA TARQUINIA MUSICA
Accademia Tarquinia Musica, (Tarquinia Music Academy: henceforth, TMA), was established on December 2012 to promote and spread music culture.
The development of young music talents – an investment in our own very future – is the core mission of TMA’s founding associate members.
The Academy strives at becoming a point of reference in high-quality music education for Tarquinia and in its adjacent territory.
For this reason TMA established Higher Courses on Music Education. Held by faculty members seconded from established music academies, these Higher Courses will provide students with technical and musical skills necessary to gain access to three and two-year degree programs offered at Italy’s prestigious national music academies. In fact, TMA offers pre-academic music education curricula in line with guidelines set by the Italian Ministry of Education.
Admissions to TMA’s Higher Courses on Music Education are granted through an entrance examination, which ascertains the applicant’s music skills. Students will undertake final examinations for each of the subjects included in their curriculum of choice, and they will be awarded a degree certifying their skills.
Higher Courses on Music Education are held every afternoon in the following public education premises, the Istituto Comprensivo “E. Sacconi” and the Istituto di Istruzione Superiore “V. Cardarelli.” These have formally agreed to pursue a didactic collaboration with TMA to foster music studies.
Moreover, through the afore-mentioned agreement, the Istituto di Istruzione Superiore “V. Cardarelli” will grant students in the Higher Courses on Music Education extra-school credits.
TMA takes great pride in having Maestro Riccardo Giovannini, head of the Rieti subsidiary to Rome’s National Academy of Santa Cecilia, as the reference point for organizing courses.
Classes will be offered on Pianoforte, Guitar, Clarinet, Flute, Trumpet, Composition, Music Theory, Harmony, Music History.
TMA also offers Courses for Music Teachers, aimed at updating or perfecting the didactic and pedagogical tools at the disposal of music instructors, as well as Music therapy through highly trained personnel.
Finally, TMA promotes and supports music events and exchange activities between schools and other organizations, in order to give young talents the early opportunity to perform in public, thus spreading music culture and up-and-coming artists.
